Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg Arizona) Wednesday, November 1, 2017, p. A-5 Rowena Boland Foster, 96, of Surprise, passed away on Sept. 5. Rowena enjoyed a 60-year-career as a highly respected interior designer and decorator in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and won many awards. Rowena moved to Tucson in the 1980s and continued her decorating passion. During the 1940s and 1950s, she was a talented photographer at Bishop's Lodge, Santa Fe, N.M.; Camelback Inn, Scottsdale,; and at Smoke Tree Ranch, Palm Springs, Calif. She loved working with best friend, Peach Curnow Sexton (deceased in 2013). Peach worked the public relations end and Rowena took the pictures. Each married and Peach became a long-time Wickenburg resident and worked at Los Caballeros. What great stories they shared of their many antics, and of photographing U.S. Presidential figures, movie stars and other prominent figures of that era. Rowena left two daughters Camille Booker Behrens (John) who died Sept. 24 in Tucson; and Rowena Pinkney Foster of Wickenburg. She raised three stepchildren, Claire Bernardini (Sandro), Tad Foster (Debra) and Taren Hamilton of California. A celebration of life, previously planned for Rowena, will now be for Rowena and Camille on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m. in the courtyard at Orchard Pointe, 15048 W. Young Street, Surprise, AZ 85374.
