Janice Elaine (Jan) Steiner

Jan Steiner, 79, passed away on Nov. 26, 2017, surrounded by family
in Prescott, Arizona. Jan was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Anton
and Marguerite (Martelli) Heinrichs.

Jan graduated from Michigan State University (East Lansing) with a
bachelor’s degree and later earned a Master’s of Early Childhood
Education at Oakland University (Rochester Hills, Michigan). She was
a longtime member of the American Association of University Women
and served as President of the Prescott branch from 2003-2004.

During her 19 years of residency in Prescott, Jan was a member of
the Red Hat Society. She served as an ambassador for the Prescott
Chamber of Commerce and became a certified Arizona Master Gardener
after having become certified in Michigan. She also worked
extensively with the task force that helped to create the Del Webb
Family Enrichment Center at Yavapai College in Prescott.

Jan is survived by her loving husband, Stan Steiner; their children
Mindy Petzer (Steve), Tracey Steiner and Bret Steiner (Marti);
grandchildren Mary Petzer and Noah, Adam, Jacob and Samantha
Steiner; brothers Tom Heinrichs (Rose) and Ron Heinrichs (Kathy) and
was aunt to Joanne Heinrichs Wise, Gretchen Heinrichs and Eric
Heinrichs.

We will all hold fond memories of the family holidays that she made
so special, as well and her lifelong love of gardening. We will
remember her as we carry on those traditions ourselves. She will be
deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. at
Heritage Memorial Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, AZ 86301. In
lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the charity of your
choice in Jan’s memory.
