Charlie had many accomplishments. Most of them involved sports, including roller derby, water skiing and dirt bikes. From barefoot drag racing to circle racing, speed skiing or marathons, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t ski on. He traveled the states and abroad water skiing and skating. He worked for the airlines and retired this year after more than 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie “Specs” Saunders; his mother, Joanie Hill Saunders; and his brother, Gary Saunders. He is survived by his sister, JoAnn Van Anrooy; nephews Michael and Jimi Priest, niece Shelly Priest Gray, and many wonderful cousins and friends. A memorial for him was held on Oct. 14 at the Marine Stadium in Long Beach, Calif. A memorial is scheduled in Parker for 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at Fox’s. |
