Charlie passes while peacefully watching the sun set over the Colorado
River.
Charlie had many accomplishments. Most of them involved sports,
including roller derby, water skiing and dirt bikes. From barefoot
drag racing to circle racing, speed skiing or marathons, there wasn’t
anything he couldn’t ski on. He traveled the states and abroad water
skiing and skating. He worked for the airlines and retired this year
after more than 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie “Specs” Saunders; his
mother, Joanie Hill Saunders; and his brother, Gary Saunders. He is
survived by his sister, JoAnn Van Anrooy; nephews Michael and Jimi
Priest, niece Shelly Priest Gray, and many wonderful cousins and
friends.
A memorial for him was held on Oct. 14 at the Marine Stadium in Long
Beach, Calif. A memorial is scheduled in Parker for 4 p.m. Friday,
Oct. 27 at Fox’s.
