Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Friday, July 23, 1954, p. 1 Saddened Friends Learn Of Death Of Irwin Beattie, Jr. Friends were shocked to learn of the death, a few weeks ago, of Irwin Beattie, Jr., son of Mr. & Mrs. Irwin Beattie of the Phantom Valley Guest Ranch on Grand Lake, Colo. It is reported that the young man, a graduate of Wickenburg High School with the class of 1950, passed away from complications which developed following an operation on his nose. He is believed to have been home on leave from an army camp at the time. The date of his death and exact details of his last illness were not available. The 23-year-old youth came here in the Fall of 1949 when his parents took over management of the Monte Vista Ranch. He was 17 years old at that time. He enrolled in Wickenburg High School and starred on both the football and basketball teams.
