MOSHER, Ida A.

(Maiden Name: Burnett)

Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, November 1, 1926, page 1, column 2 Mrs. Mosher Passes Away Prominent Pioneer Woman Succumbs After Lingering Illness; 63 Yrs. Old Mrs. Ida Mosher, a member of one of the oldest families of Arizona and a resident of Yavapai county since 1867, succumbed at the home of her son, Roland Mosher, early yesterday morning following a lingering illness which had kept her confined to her bed for the last five weeks. Mrs. Mosher, loved and respected by all who knew her was a well- known figure in political affairs here for many years, serving under her husband, the late Roland Mosher, and later, in the same capacity, during the term of L. S. Caldwell and during the first year of Mrs. Grace Chapman's regime, when she retired from public service. Born in Santa Cruz, California, on May 3, 1863, she came to this county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burnett, in 1867, locating at Walnut Grove, where the family remained for many years. She was married when she was 19 years of age and soon thereafter moved to Prescott to remain, withe the exception of brief visits to California, the rest of her life. In her early years, Mrs. Mosher taught school here, her first school being in an old log cabin near the banks of Granite Creek. Later, she learned the printing trade and was employed by the old Prescott Courier, operating in its present location many years ago. She was taken seriously ill five weeks ago while visiting relatives in Clarkdale, was brought to her son's home here and never again left her bed. Her last act was to vote a straight Democratic ticket Saturday morning, less than 18 hours before her death. Mrs. Mosher, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the local Rebekahs of which she was past noble grand, and the Christian Science church, is survived by two sons, Roland and Hugh Mosher, the latter of San Bernardino, and a daughter, Mrs. Charles M. Shaw of San Diego, all of whom were with her when death arrived, a brother, L. P. (sic I.P.), of this city, and eight grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Mosher will be conducted by the Rebekahs and the Science church at Ruffners chapel at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and interment will be in Mountain View cemetery.
