Betty Lou (Miller, Jones) Smith was born in Blackwell, Okla., to Eugene and Katherine Miller, on April 29, 1928. She went home to the Lord on Oct. 18.

Grandma Betty (as she was affectionately called by everyone) was a strong, independent and highly opinionated woman. She was a hard worker who believed in obtaining a proper education. As a school teacher for many decades she touched many lives and was an encourager to each student to further their education in order to better their lives. She was a firm believer but loving teacher/role model. Grandma Betty did not suffer fools or slackers lightly. "If you wanted to eat...you'd better be willing to work!" Betty not only was an educator but also sold real estate and hand-built several homes in her lifetime. Her love and passion for horses was a thread that wove through the tapestry of her life. She was deeply loved by her family and she will be missed by many.

Betty is survived by her sons Tipton Jay Jones and Kevin (Tonya) Smith; grandsons Spencer (Jennifer) Jones, Bryan Jones, Jordan Jones, Connor Jones, Kevin Smith Jr. and Eric Smith; granddaughters Ashlea Smith and Coral Jones; along with 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Wickenburg Funeral Home. Friends may offer online condolences at www.wickenburgfuneralhome.com.

Arrangements made under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory.
