Henry Brinkmeyer, 62, Is Claimed By Death

Henry Brinkmeyer, Jr., 62, for six years president of the Yavapai
Savings Bank, died apparently from a heart attack Sunday noon at his
Brinkmeyer hotel. He served as the Bank's vice president for
another six years and had been a director since 1941. The hotel he
managed was one of the city's oldest; destroyed during the 1900
fire, it was enlarged and rebuilt.

He was the son of Henry and Ina Brinkmeyer, who built the large
white home at W. Gurley and Park Avenue where his two sisters,
Misses Marcella and Caroline Brinkmeyer still live. He lived with
his wife, Mrs. Louis Brinkmeyer, at 222 Vista Dr.

Brinkmeyer was educated in the Prescott public schools and was
graduated from Prescott High School in 1912. He attended Stanford
University, at Palo Alto, Calif. from 1912 to 1916 and received a
batchelor of arts degree in civil engineering in 1916. After
graduation he was employed by the Salt River Water Users'
Association, Chino Valley Water Users' Association and the Arizona
Highway Department.

He was commissioned as lieutenant in the civil engineer corps of the
United States Navy in 1917 and served in that capacity during World
War I, until 1920 when he returned to Prescott and entered business
with his father, operating the hotel and bakery. He served as an
active member of the United States Naval Reserve, after resigning
from the regular navy in 1920, until 1931, when he was placed on the
honorary retired list of the U.S. Naval Reserve Civil Engineer
Corps.

The bakery business, established in 1883, was discontinued in 1942
but he still conducted the Hotel at 114 S. Montezuma St., in
Prescott.

He was married to Louise M. Lebach in 1930.

Mr. Brinkmeyer has been active in Masonic work since 1920, when he
became a member of Aztlan Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. in Prescott; he
served as master of the Blue Lodge, High Priest of Prescott Chapter
R.A.M., and Commander of Ivanhoe Commandery.

His hobbies are hunting and fishing. He organized the Prescott Fish
& Game & Forest Protective Association in 1920 and served as its
president for many years. H also attended the organization meeting
of the Arizona Game Protective Association in Flagstaff, in 1921.
He is a charter member of the famous Smoki People, organized in 1920
as successor to the 'Way Out West' celebration conducted a that
time. Mr. Brinkmeyer was elected to the board of directors of the
Yavapai Savings Bank in 1941; elected vice president in 1944 and
president in 1950.

Surviving are his wife, Louise, and sisters, Marcella and Carolyn
Brinkmeyer; and an aunt, Mrs. Emily Brinkmeyer, all of Prescott.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ruffner chapel with
the Rev. David C. Trimble officiating. Burial will be in the
Mountain View cemetery.
