| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, December 23, 2017, page 7a George Johnson was born March 15, 1934, in Flint, Michigan, and died, Dec. 5, 2017, in Prescott, Arizona, his home for the last 23 years. George grew up in Grand Blanc, Michigan, the youngest of four boys. He received his Engineering degree from GMI, his Master’s degree from the University of Michigan, and had a very successful career with General Motors, mainly at Harrison Radiator in Lockport, New York. Along the way, George met and married the love of his life, Shirley, who predeceased him in August. They had two children, Lyn (Tom) Cooney, of Holly, Michigan, and Kelly (Glenn) Ritzenthaler, of Schenectady, New York; and three grandchildren, Zoe Cooney, and Erik and Alec Ritzenthaler. George was creative, and artistic, often making gifts for his family. He loved all U of M sports (GO Blue!), his dog, McGregor, and was so proud of everything his grandchildren did. He had a smile that could light up a room. But most of all ... he loved Shirley. Her loss was almost unbearable, and they are together again. A love story that will last an eternity ...
