| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, December 25, 2017, page 5a Edward Lenton was born June 22, 1932, in Campbell, Ohio, the son of Anthony and Julianna Kenczel Letoha. Edward was well educated and loved the Latin language. He was a former priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Massillon, Ohio, and was a school teacher for almost 50 years in Ohio and Arizona. He was extremely spiritual and dedicated to his faith. He helped others and donated to hundreds of charities. Edward was an avid reader, great at couponing, sports fanatic and especially loved cheering on anything Ohio State, Arizona State, or the Phoenix Suns. He loved western movies and books; and making people laugh. Edward, also affectionately known as Pops, Pop, Eddie, Ed, Edward, Mr. Lenton, and Father Lenton, was a devoted husband, teacher, father, and grandfather, who loved his family, friends, and his animals. He had many dogs, including three Great Pyrenese, named “Charlemagne” (Big Boy), and a double yellow headed Amazon Parrot named “Quito.” Edward will be remembered as a respectful, considerate, polite, charming, gruff, stubborn, difficult, intelligent, independent, and funny character. His wife and the love of his life, the former Joanne Howell (Hatjes) Lenton, whom he married May 23, 1979; passed away April 22, 2001. Edward will be missed by sisters, Gerrie Manosky, Eleanor Novak, Dolly Zackasee, Valerie Lenton, Margaret Lenton and Katherine Lenton; brothers, Bob Lenton, John Lenton, Bernard Lenton and Alfred Letoha; step-sons, George Hatjes, Gust Hatjes, Mike Hatjes, and Joey Hatjes; step-daughter, Deborah Hatjes; granddaughters, Heather Burner, Mary Jo Favela, and Aubrey Gibson; grandsons, J.J. Gibson, and Josh ‘Gust’ Gibson; 10 other grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. We love you, Pops. Hope you’re happy and at peace with Jesus and Bebop and all of your loved ones. We will miss you until we meet again. The Lenton family entrusted their loved one to Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, Ohio, funeral Dec. 16, 2017, and Edward was laid peacefully to rest at St. John’s Cemetery.
