Melvin (Mel) Williams

Melvin "Mel" Williams, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona passed away on
November 12, 2017. He was born on January 9, 1939 in Calexico,
California, to his parents, Clay and Edith Williams. He was 78 years
of age.

Mel lived in Oakdale, California from 1957 until 2005. He met a
beautiful woman named Celia and in 1960 they were united in marriage
in Yuma, Arizona, at the Gretna Green Chapel. What a wonderful and
eventful 57 years of marriage they had. It was in 2005 that Mel and
Celia decided to make Lake Havasu City, Arizona their permanent
residence.

Mel took a career path as a Surveyor and was a member of Operating
Engineers, Local #3 in San Francisco, California.

Mel was active in many Fraternities: lifetime member of the Brawley
Elks Lodge since 1960, associate member of Elks Lodge #2399, in Lake
Havasu City, Arizona, lifetime member and twice Master of the Oakdale
Masonic Lodge #275, lifetime member and twice Master of Summit Masonic
Lodge #112, in Knights Ferry, California, member of Scottish Rite in
Stockton, California, member of the Shrine Organization of Oakland,
California, and also a former member of the Oakdale, Golf and Country
club.

Mel was an avid Bass fisherman and belonged to several Bass fishing
clubs in Oakdale, California. He was a great fisherman, who never had
to come home with the good ole' tale of the one that got away.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Edith Williams.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Celia Williams;
daughter, Sonja (Alvin) Kay III, of Oakdale, California; brothers,
Richard (Becky) Williams, Jerry (Karen) Willams, and Gary (Robin)
Williams; sisters, Barbara (James) Slay and Peggy (George) Wilson;
sister-in-law, Kae (Spike) Dessert, of Kununurra, Australia along with
numerous nieces and nephews and his loving pet "Molly".

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Oakdale,
California.
