Leonard “Scrubby” Lebow, Sr., (85), of Chino Valley, Arizona, went
home to be with the Lord on Dec. 20, 2017, due to complications from
pneumonia. Scrubby was born in Pinetop, Arizona, to Olen and Helen
Lebow on June 9, 1932.

He retired from the Naval Weapons Center, China Lake, California, in
1989 after four years Navy active duty and 26 years of DOD Civil
Service as an electronic engineer manager.

Scrubby was a passionate advocate for education and, after retiring,
worked as a substitute teacher in order to foster and encourage
learning in younger generations.

Scrubby had several hobbies including hiking, gardening, and
fishing, but his true passion was writing and playing music. Scrubby
was a gifted musician, playing five different stringed instruments
and a lifetime member of the Arizona Old Time Fiddlers Association.

Scrubby and his wife, Linda “Rosebud” Lebow, enjoyed creating music
with others, bringing joy and happiness wherever they went. Scrubby
helped many others in their discovery of the joy of music and often
used his musical talents to raise money for local charities.

Scrubby loved telling jokes and bringing smiles to those around him;
his sense of humor and laughter were contagious. Friends and family
enjoyed spending time with him listening to his wonderful music,
stories, and antics. Scrubby was a source of strength and a
wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He
will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Leonard was preceded in death by his mother and father, and by
daughter, Lorraine Fagen.

He is survived by his wife, Linda “Rosebud” Lebow of Chino Valley;

California; son Leonard (Cheryl) Lebow Jr. of Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma; son Bill (Zoe) Long of Ridgecrest, California; daughter
