John (Papa) A. Roy, 81, of Litchfield, Maine, formerly of Lake Havasu
City, and Danvers, Mass., passed away Sept. 5, 2015 at Maine Medical
Center in Portland, Maine, surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Christine; eight children and
their spouses: Jeff Roy of Brookfield, Mass., Leslie and Jeff Roberts
of Lake Havasu City, John W. Roy of Peabody, Mass., Craig A. Roy of
Wash., Kimberly A. Nalbandian of Danvers, Mass., JoAnne and John Bucci
of W. Gardiner, Maine, Darlene and Michael Sweeney of Salisbury,
Mass., and Jennifer and Jay Shilosky of Ware, Mass. He also leaves
behind two nieces, Louise Friley of Salem, Mass., and Jo Anne
Harrington of Florida; a nephew, Lornie Thomas of Beverly, Mass.; 12
loving grandchildren, extended family and many friends.

John was preceded in death by his daughter Bonnie Sue Roy and his
sister, Dorothy (Roy) Weston.

John was born in Beverly, Mass., Feb. 15, 1934. He was an Army Veteran
serving in the Korean War (1954) and a graduate of Wentworth Institute
in Boston. He worked for car dealerships as a buyer and salesman
receiving several awards, including the legions of leaders for ten
years with Chevrolet in the North Shore area of Massachusetts. He was
a member of the Elks, Lions Club, Masons and American Legions. John
enjoyed antique cars and trucks and gathering with family and friends
sharing stories about his life.

A celebration of life with military honors took place Wednesday, Sept.
9, at Staples Funeral Home in Gardiner, Maine. A second service was at
Lyons Funeral Home in Danvers, Mass., Sept. 10.
