NEWTON, Billy James

White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona October 2017 Billy James Newton, 86, longtime resident of Overgaard died Oct. 24, 2017 from a heart attack in Overgaard. He was born Nov. 22, 1930 in Capron, OK. Billy received his masters of education from ASU and taught 30 years at Creighton Elementary School in Phoenix. He was a member of White Mountain Square Dance Club and an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Overgaard. He is survived by his wife, Judy Newton of Overgaard; daughters Deborah Osborn (Greg) of Gilbert, Pamela Newton of Scottsdale, Gayle Richardson (Steve) of Overgaard, and Sabrina Shaw (Lance) of Alaska; sons Kenneth Newton (Karen) of Va.,Jim Jackson (Lupe) of Wash., and Garrett Jackson (Don) of Wash.; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard William Newton and Addie Polly Focht, and son William Newton.
