| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Tuesday, Januaru 9, 2018 <<< Mary Allen, 97, of Lake Havasu City, passed away Dec. 30, 2017. Mary was born March 20, 1920 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the daughter of Otis and Jessie E. Graue. Her parents decided to move from Arkansas to Whittier, California. As a young school girl, Richard Nixon was her school bus driver for a short amount of time. He would later become president of the United States. Mary mostly resided in California, including Whittier, Hawthorne, Torrance, Palm Desert, Yucca Valley, Sun City and Menifee. She made her final move to Lake Havasu City. While living in California, Mary was a grocery checker; in 1957, she retired from the industry. Mary had many interests and was quite the world traveler. She visited exotic places such as Mexico City, China, Tahiti, Mediterranean countries, Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, Alaska, Hawaii, and all over the continental United States. She also loved to sew, listen to her favorite music (Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Johnny Mathis) and mostly spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Mary is survived by her son, Robert Cloer, of Lake Havasu City, six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Mary’s celebration of life is 3 p.m. Feb. 10 at the London Bridge Resort’s Sunset Room. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
