| Rody Ramirez Douglas Dispatch (AZ) - Monday, September 7, 2015 Rody Slate Ramirez passed away Friday, September 6 at his Douglas home with his family by his side. Rody was born November 12, 1940, in Douglas to Jesus Ramirez and Rosario Charlee Slate Ramirez. He attended local schools, graduating from DHS in 1961. In 1958, Rody enlisted in the Naval Reserves. In 1961 he began active duty, leaving the service in 1965 as a Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer Third Class. Rody was one of the first male nurses to graduate from the "The School of Nursing" at CochiseCollege, graduating in 1964. Rody had over fifty accumulative years of experience in the field of nursing. Rody is survived by his children from his first wife, Diane Harrison (Nigel), Janet and Randy Ramirez; his current wife Teresa Valencia and their children, Karina (Jesus) Ramirez, Zheyla (Sergio) Baltierrez and Krissy Ramirez. He is also survived by his sister, Norma (Manuel) Gracia and his brothers, Raul (Elisa), Jesus, Ronny and David (Letty). He was preceded in death by his sister Virginia, brothers, Rene and Daniel and his son, Xavier. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Brown Page Mortuary beginning at 12:30 PM with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at CalvaryCemetery with military honors by U.S. Navy Color Guard, American Legion and VFW. Pallbearers who will serve are David Ramirez, Raul Ramirez, Sergio Baltierrez, Nigel Harrison, Manuel Gracia and Angel Gonzalez. Rody was a great man that helped many people.
