RICHFIELD, Utah - Funeral services for Forrest Herman Adison, 80, will be held Saturday, April 26, at 12 p.m. at the Richfield 1st LDS Ward Chapel (985 South 400 West) in Richfield, Utah, where friends may call for viewing Friday, April 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., or Saturday prior to the services from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post No. 5050 and the Utah Honor Guard will be at the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.

Forrest was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Shonto, Ariz., to Fred and Mae Calamity Adson, into the L—k'aa' dine'é (Reed People Clan), born for Tábaahá (Water's Edge Clan). He died April 20, 2014, at his home in Richfield, after a brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Forrest attended Chemawa Indian School in Salem, Ore., graduating in 1954. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, and resided in Richfield since 1968.

Forrest married Esther Jones on July 27, 1957, in Salem. She died Jan. 7, 1999.

Forrest worked for Boeing Aircraft, Bureau of Indian Affairs as an instructional aide, Chemawa Indian School, Magdalena Dormitory, and the Richfield Dormitory. He was involved with student activities such as camping, hiking, cookouts, field trips, and starting a rodeo club mentoring and building skills and fundamentals in the sport of rodeo and roping, competing locally and in the Western states. Practicing was an important part of roping. Everyone was welcomed to practice with him or learn from him and use his horses, ropes, cattle, and whatever he had.

Forrest had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and all their accomplishments and activities by attending and supporting them. He loved his family, relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Forrest is survived by his children, Forrest H. and Rita Adison Jr. of Castle Dale, Utah, Ernestine J. and Donald Crank of Payson, Ariz., Sylvia J. and Steve Nielsen of Monroe, Utah, and Sophie Z. Adison and Eugenia A. Adison, both of Richfield; siblings, Grace Yazzie, Alice Adson, and Russell and Julia Adson, all of Shonto, Ariz., Ruth and Sam Yazzie of Sanders, Ariz., and Emma and Larry Watts of Fort Defiance; and 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Forrest is preceded in death by his wife, Esther; parents, Fred and Mae Adson; and siblings, Helen Herder, Rose Adson, Mike Adson, and David Adson.
