He was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Prescott, Arizona. A Funeral Service will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Sunrise Funeral Home. ------------------------- The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, January 14, 2018, page 8a Benjamin Robinson Allen, age 90, died Jan. 6, 2018, at home in Prescott Valley, Arizona, under the loving watch of his wife, Beverly. Ben was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Prescott, Arizona, to Benjamin and Josephine Allen. Ben retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 after 18 years. He had served previously in the U.S. Army with a tour in Korea, where he received the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star for Valor and the Purple Heart, among other medals and citations. Upon retirement from the military, Ben settled in Phoenix and continued a life of service, working in the Department of Agriculture, coordinating sponsorship of his son’s BMX bike team with the Disabled American Veterans Association, coaching Little League and volunteering with the Phoenix Symphony. After moving back to Prescott, he was a founding member of the Korean War Veterans organization. Ben is survived by his wife, Beverly Kenney-Allen; son, Keith (Lisa) Allen; grandchildren, Casey, Abigail, and Elijah Allen; siblings, Joseph (Moana) Allen, Joyce (Terry) Robinson; and preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Berglund Allen; son, Kelly (Kim) Allen; parents, Benjamin and Josephine Allen; siblings, Eugene (Lael) Allen, Sharon Allen, and Shelia (Mark) Owen. Ben was a husband, father and friend to many. If he wasn’t home listening to classical music, working on a crossword puzzle or maintaining one of his 60 grandfather clocks, he was summering at the lake, traveling the world (55 foreign countries), or playing bingo. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at the Chapel on the VA Northern Arizona Health Care Campus, 500 Highway 89, Prescott. Visitation and viewing at 9 a.m., service with military honors at 10 a.m. Burial Service will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 Cave Creek Road, Phoenix at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, https://donatenow.heart.org/ or the Association of Korean War Veterans, 190 Oxbow Street, Prescott, AZ 86305.
