Barbara L. (Whitefield) Holtz

Surrounded by her family at Havasu Regional Medical Center, Barbara L.
Holtz, 76, went home to our Lord, Jesus Christ, May 13, 2015. Barbara
was born Feb. 6, 1939 to Alma E. Miller and Gerald D. Whitefield in
Quincy, Ill. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald in 1944;
mother, Alma (Whiz); and stepfather, R.J. Stewart in 2004.

Barbara spent her early years growing up in Lima, Ill. until moving to
El Monte, Calif. in 1947. In 1954, Barbara and her family moved to
Pomona, Calif. There she met Tom Holtz, the love of her life, and on
Feb. 5, 1955 they were married. They had three children and had just
celebrated 60 years together.

Barbara retired from Pathology Medical Group in 1990 and moved to Lake
Havasu City in 1993. She enjoyed traveling, dining out, and
socializing with friends from Mount Olive Lutheran Church, the Golden
K Kiwanis and Lake Havasu Yacht Clubs. She was an active member of
Mount Olive Lutheran Church, involved with the prayer chain and
serving on the fellowship board for 10 years and the altar guild for
20 years.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Holtz; daughters,
Patricia A. (Scott) Schafroth of Lake Havasu, Lynn E. (Leonard) Shaw
of Littleton, Colo.; son, Thomas E. Holtz, Jr. of Lake Havasu; sister,
DeAnne (Rod) Higgins of Escondido, Calif.; grandsons, Aaron Schafroth,
Jason Schafroth; granddaughter, Kelsey (Dan) Daughtery; cousins,
Patricia (Mel) Kuntz, Mike Crouch, John Crouch; in-laws, Keith (Sue)
Holtz, Gary (Mary) Holtz, Mary Lou Holtz; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 6 at Mount
Olive Lutheran Church.

Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and
Crematory.
