Albert L. Crites Dies In Crash At Wilhoit
Funeral services will be held Thursday for Albert L. Crites, 23,
Prescott, who was killed early Sunday in an automobile accident near
Wilhoit.
Crites was a passenger in a car driven by Johnny Cumberworth, also
of Prescott. The vehicle struck a bridge abutment. Crites was
killed instantly.
Cumber worth suffered broken ribs and internal injuries. His
condition today was reported as 'slightly improved' after being
considered 'critical' yesterday.
Another passenger, Jasper Crites, brother of Albert, was unhurt.
The accident occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. when the trio was
driving north,
State highway patrolman John Lubicich said Cumberworth apparently
lost control of the car and it veered off the road, striking the
abutment.
The left side of the car was sheared off. Crites was thrown out and
was killed when the rear portion of the car fell on him, Lubicich
declared.
Crites was born July 31, 1926 in Prescott.
Crites is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Crites; two
brothers, J. L. of Prescott and Frank, Jr., of Abilene, Texas; two
sisters, Sharlott and Ellen, both of Prescott, and grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Will Janes, of Congress Junction.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ruffner's
funeral home, with the Rev. Carl E. Reynolds officiating.
