A-2 Hiram (Hi) Alan Newman, a former Wickenburg resident from the mid-1940s to the late 1950s, died March 16 in Thousand Oaks, Calif. He was 88. Mr. Newman was born Sept. 15, 1905 in Ohio. While living in Wickenburg, Mr. Newman and his wife Jessie owned and operated Pattie's Market and also managed the Del Rio Motel, which was located behind what is now the Gold Nugget Restaurant. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star in Wickenburg. Mr. Newman is survived by his wife Jessie; daughter Patti; and one brother.
