on Jan 30, 2018.

She was born Sept. 28, 1945 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Bill and
Betty Heinzen. She graduated from Park Rapids High School.

At age 17, Barb decided to attend San Bernardino Valley College in

Bernardino, she walked to the college. A college admissions clerk took
her to her house and let her stay there until she got her own place.

Barb married Jack Cowell in 1964. They had two girls, Gina and Debbie.
Barb and Jack divorced in 1970. Barb met Ken on a blind date and they
married in 1978. They were known to friends as Barbie and Ken.

Barb worked at the Fontana School District Office until she moved on
to the San Bernardino County Schools office which oversaw the 39
district’s budget. Barb was well-known throughout the state for her
knowledge in special education funding and spent many days training
others in Sacramento. She retired in 1993 and they moved to Havasu.
Barb took up golf and enjoyed spending time out boating and fishing
with Ken.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Betty Heinzen,
brothers Dan and Mark Heinzen and granddaughter Deborah Langstaff.

Barb leaves behind her husband Ken Bishman, daughters Gina James,
Debbie Guindon, Joanna Courtney and son Mike (Gretchen) Bishman. She
also is survived by her nine grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren, four brothers, three sisters, many nieces and nephews.

Barbie will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Services will be private, however a celebration of life will be at the
Elks Lodge in Barb’s memory at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made in Barb’s name to Hospice of Havasu.
