Hazel V. (Dudley) Briggs

Hazel V. Briggs, 86, passed away Aug. 22, 2017 at her home in Circle City, surround by family. Hazel was born Feb. 6, 1931, in Antlers, Okla., to Noble Dudley and Gertrude Riddle Dudley. The family moved to California shortly thereafter. She attended schools there and met Clinton Briggs in 1946. They were later married in 1949 making their home at Camp Pendleton while Clint completed his military service. Clint began working for Pacific Gas & Electric, and they traveled for his work. They eventually settled in Phoenix, Ore., where they lived for several years.

In 1977 Clint and Hazel moved to Arizona settling in Circle City. Hazel was active in the community and began working at the Wise Owl Center in Wickenburg as a cook. She was a member of the Morristown Baptist Church, which is now the Morristown Community Church.

After working at the Wise Owl she began working at the Morristown School.

Hazel was the fourth child in a family of 17 children. She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband Clinton of Circle City and children Diana Briggs of Milwaukee, Ore., Virginia (Patrick) Davis of Boise, Idaho and Rick Briggs of Boise, brothers Roy Dudley of Reedley, Calif. and Larry Dudley of Noble, Okla.; sisters Ruby Johnson of Ione, Calif., Darlene Fitzgerald of Athena, Ore., Linda Newman of Anza, Calif., and Faye Boltz of Noble, Okla., and three grandchildren Todd, Mason and Jude.
