| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 <<< Farran (Hank) Vernon Helmick Jr., 93, formerly of Lake Havasu City, passed away Jan. 27, 2018. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia to his parents, Farran and Wilhelmina Helmick on Jan. 29, 1925. Hank proudly served his country in World War II and Korea. He earned two Bronze Stars for his acts of heroism. After being honorably discharged, he became the proud owner of his very own antique shop. Hank retired to Lake Havasu City in 2000, where he enjoyed the desert and lake until he moved to California with his son Mike in 2015. Hank was always in a good mood and was known for his silly jokes. Hank was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and The Blue Army. Hank is survived by his six children, 17 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. A visitation is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Mass is 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church on Friday, Feb. 9. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
