Jean Elina Niemi, 82, formerly of Ahmeek, Michigan, passed away
surrounded by family Jan. 23, 2018, in Prescott.
Jean was born in Chicago to Hjalmar and Amanda (Haapala) Johnson on
August 31, 1935. Jean enjoyed many things in life: traveling,
antiquing, shopping, jewelry, shoes, purses, “bakery,” casinos,
decorating, auctions, “junk” shops and much more. She could spot a
garage sale a mile away.
She was also fortunate enough to work for the Chicago Cubs and lived
to see them win a World Series! Jean joins the love of her life,
John Edward Niemi, in heaven now.
She was also preceded by her son, Loren Evanoff; sister, Peggy
(Johnson) Jacobsen; and both parents. Jean is survived by her
children, Michael Evanoff and his wife Debbie, Steven Evanoff,
Joanne Evanoff, Kristofer Evanoff and his wife Nancy, and daughter-
in-law Jill Pettit.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Maximus and Madeline Evanoff
and Amanda Goldberg, Brittany Froehlke and Tristian Evanoff; her
sister, Joan Heffellfinger; nieces, nephews and cousins, and her
beloved dog, Molly. Jean will be dearly missed by her family.
A Memorial Service will be held for her and John in Ahmeek,
Michigan, later this summer. Funeral arrangements entrusted to
Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Homes. Please log on to
