Bette (Berk) Boomhower

Bette Boomhower, 78, passed on to glory March 14, 2016 with her
daughters by her side in Lake Havasu City.

Bette was born Dec. 3, 1937 in Osage, Iowa, to Mitchell and Edna Berk.
They were farmers.

She graduated from Rockford High School in 1956. Bette met and married
William “Bud” Boomhower in Mason City, Iowa May 20, 1962. There, they
bought a farm, worked it together, and welcomed two daughters.

Bette and her family moved to Lake Havasu City in 1969 after visiting
the community via McCulloch flights. She was one of the first pioneers
of Havasu. Bette lived in Havasu for 48 years before she went on to
meet the Lord. She was very active at St. Michael’s Methodist Church
and helped out there quite often. She was a part of the crafting
group, knitting prayer shawls and other items. She also volunteered at
Havasu Regional Medical Center frequently.

Bette devoted much of her time to her family. Her hobbies included
knitting, reading and walking her dog, Hershey.

Bette is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Patricia
Bjornson, Renee Plemmons and Dodie Strole, Byron Bjornson, Carl
Plemmons and Larry Strole; brothers and their spouses, Harold and
Jerry Berk, Flora and Connie Berk; her five grandchildren and their
spouses; and her five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, “Bud,” and her son, David
Boomhower.

A memorial service is Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at St. Michael’s
Methodist Church in Lake Havasu City.

Donations may be sent to St. Michael’s Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the care of Lake Havasu Mortuary & Crematory,
veteran and family owned.
