| Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home - Lake Havasu City, Arizona >>> September 23, 1921 - August 23, 2007 <<< Wilfred Louis Wilmes, 85, passed away Thursday, August 23rd, in Las Vegas, NV. He was born September 23, 1921 to Peter and Theresa Wilmes in Glen Ullin, North Dakota. Wilfred and his wife, Pauline, moved to Lake Havasu City in 1984 from Simi Valley, CA, where he retired after 30 years as an independent truck owner-operator. Wilfred served in the Navy during World War II. He was a dedicated family man, who loved large family gatherings. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and cards, he liked to dance and sing, and he loved baking. Wilfred was also an avid sports fan, favoring the LA Dodgers and Lakers. Wilfred is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pauline Wilmes of Lake Havasu City; 7 children: Sharon Massey of Escondido, CA., Jerry (Gladi) Wilmes of Santa Clarita, CA., June (Larry) Hill of Lake Havasu City, AZ., Timothy (Rosario) Wilmes of Palmdale, CA., Cynthia (John) Rafkind of Santa Clarita, CA., Jane (Tony) Jorgensen of Lake Havasu City, AZ., Scott (Donna) Wilmes of Lancaster, CA.; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Saturday, September 1 at 11 :00 AM. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus on London Bridge Road. There will be a private burial service for the family.
