| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: February 24, 2016 - Judy A. Kohrs of Lake Havasu City passed away Feb. 18, 2016 with her family by her side at her son’s home in Orange, Calif. She was born in Murray, Iowa in 1941 to Pauline and Russell Gray. She attended schools in Des Moines, Indianola and graduated from Valley High School in Clermont, Iowa. Judy excelled in basketball, playing all four years and graduating with honorable mention on the woman’s varsity team. Judy married Wesley Kohrs of Postville, Iowa Sept. 8, 1961 inside Niagara Cave in Harmony, Minn. They lived together for two years in Indianola, Iowa before moving to Orange County, Calif. They lived a short time in Yorba Linda before making their home in the City of Orange in 1964. Judy worked for the City of Orange Police department as crossing guard and later as parking control officer. She retired in July 2000 after 26 years of dedicated service. After retiring, Wesley and Judy moved to Big Bear, Calif. for five years before settling in Lake Havasu City in 2005. During her retirement, Judy enjoyed making award-winning peanut brittle, sewing and quilting, various crafts, spending time on the boat, traveling by motorhome across the country and celebrating 40 and 50 years of marriage on the islands of Hawaii. She enjoyed visiting family and especially spending time with her two grandchildren. Judy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Wesley Kohrs; sons Jeffrey Kohrs (Sue) of Orange, Calif. and Timothy Kohrs (Marydith) of Long Beach, Calif.; sisters Donna Durr of Whitethorn, Calif., Sheila Cabral of Redway, Calif., Carla Steiner of Shelter Cove, Calif. and Rhonda Mock (Chris) of Berryville, Ark.; one brother, Leo Durr of Redway, Calif. and twin grandchildren, Brayden and Faith Kohrs. Judy’s life will be celebrated by family and friends in Orange, Calif. and Lake Havasu City. The family requests memorial donations be made in her honor to Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Calif. (CHOC), 1201 W.
