David M. Johnson, 60, of Camp Verde, joined the angels on Feb. 20,
2018.

He was born in Phoenix on Jan. 14, 1958, to William (Johnny) and
Reba Johnson, and was married to Margie (Crane) for 40 years.
David fought a true battle the majority of his life and is an
inspiration to all who knew him. At the age of 22, he was diagnosed
with congestive heart failure and advised to get his affairs in
order.

But David never took well to being told what to do, and had other
plans. In 1988 at the age of 30, David received a heart transplant,
from a donor who was 20 years older than he was.

This precious gift allowed David to enjoy both of his daughters,
Stephanie Johnson and Dawn Mullis (Matt), as well as being able to
watch his three granddaughters, Dakota Johnson and Summer Hicks to
Stephanie, and Angel Brady to Dawn, grow into amazing young women.

David loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking and was an avid
rock hound. For a period of time he was even able to follow in his
grandfather’s footsteps as a blacksmith, creating beautiful works of
art. He had fun showing at gem and minerals shows and touched many
people.

Through all his trials, he maintained an incredible sense of humor
that brought smiles to all those around him.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society of
Sedona, where he adopted his youngest kids, Pumpkin and Teddy. They,
as well as their sister, Maddie, brought him great companionship and
comfort.

David was loved very much and will be greatly missed.
