She was 17 days short of her 94th birthday. Doris was born in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1924, to Carrie and Charles. Doris married Walter (Bill) Wollam in July 1945, when he was released from the U.S. Marine Corps at the end of World War II. They were married for 67 years until his passing in 2012. Although Doris worked as an executive secretary during and after the war, she became a homemaker and partner in their jewelry store business in Glendora, California, for more than 23 years until their retirement in 1978. Upon retirement they moved to Brookings, Oregon, where family has resided for many years. Doris was known to her family as many things: an excellent cook, a voracious reader and a lover of art, but most of all she was a devout Christian who was always involved in her church’s work. She was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church in Glendora, California, as well as a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Crescent City, California. Doris moved to Prescott, Arizona, in 2013 to be near her son, Walter (Bill) Wollam III and daughter-in-law, Patrice, and in the last year of her life resided with her daughter, Patty Egan and her husband, Brian in Prescott Valley, Arizona. She is also survived by her daughter, Nancy Hazelett (Stafford) of Beaverton, Oregon, and Robert Wollam (Kathleen) of Smith River, California. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grand-daughters, Jessica and Tammy; and sister-in- law and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Hank Itzen of Brookings, Oregon. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Homes. Please log on to www.ruffnerwakelin.com to sign Doris’s guestbook and share a memory with the family.
