Hazel Jane (Hegwood) Sigferson

Hazel Jane (Hegwood) Sigferson, died Wednesday, June 22, 2003, in
Prescott. She was born Nov. 22, 1921, in McCurtain County, Okla.,
the daughter of John William and Ruby Cordelia (Wilson) Hegwood.

Hazel moved to Arizona in 1928 from Texas. On Feb. 28, 1942, she
married the love of her life, Gilbert Leroy Sigferson. He preceded
her in death on Oct. 17, 1998. She was also preceded in death by
her granddaughter, Brenda.

Hazel worked as a nursing assistant for Yavapai Regional Medical
Center for 12 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints, Bradshaw ward, and thoroughly enjoyed cooking
to feed her family and friends. She loved to travel and listen to
music. She also liked to watch game shows and playing mind games.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Joan and Larry
Despain, Julia and Jan Longnecker of Atlanta, Ga., and Verlene and
Jeff Waters of Tuba City, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-
grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, in the Relief
Society Room of the Church of Latter-day Saints, Paulden Ward, 441
Perkinsville Road, N.W., in Chino Valley with a Celebration of Life
service at 4 p.m. and a Grave Dedication to follow at the Chino
Valley Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorials be sent to LDS Missionary Fund,
c/o LDS Church, Del Rio Ward, Chino Valley; Prescott Salvation Army,
P.O. Box 2017, Prescott, Az. 86302 and YRMC Hospice, P.O. Box 26565,
Prescott Valley, Az. 86313-6565.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home is assisting the family with
arrangements.
