| Today's News-Herald, lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted on March 8, 2018 - Ronald S. Cleland, 75, of Lake Havasu City, passed away March 5, 2018 in Havasu. Ronald was born in Vermillion, South Dakota March 31, 1942, the son of Woodrow and Beverly Cleland. His family moved to California after World War II, and Ronnie grew up in Bellflower. He was in the Navy for two years, and then went on to earn an associate degree from Long Beach City College in 1964. Ronald worked for the telephone company in South Dakota for 35 years, specializing in microwave radio service. He and the family had a small hobby farm for several years, raising cows and switchgrass. Ronald also enjoyed hunting and fishing, construction projects, traveling, gold prospecting, and was a camp host for several years with his wife, Sue. They enjoyed retirement living in Havasu. Ronald is survived by his wife Susan (Phillips) Cleland of Havasu, children Kristi Cleland of Lennox, South Dakota and Scott Cleland of Piedmont, South Dakota, stepchildren John Keefner of Galena, South Dakota and David Keefner of San Diego, sisters Janalee Klein of Lakewood, California and Rhonda Cleland of Havasu and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Woodrow Cleland and his mother Beverly (Erickson) Cleland. Ronald’s celebration of life is at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 10 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1605 S. McCulloch Blvd. Donations can be made to Hospice of Havasu at www.hospicehavasu.org. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Havasu for loving care of Ronnie at home. |
