| Parker Pioneer, Parker, Arizona - Posted on February 27, 2018 >> Joe “Louie” Burgoz – Phoenix << Passed away at his home on Feb. 18, 2018. Born Aug. 13, 1933 in Parker, Ariz., “down in the valley” to Ruth and Gregorio. Louie attended Parker High School and served in the US Army, where he was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA and honorably discharged in 1955. Georgia is where he met his wife Sadie of 62 years, and is survived by their sons Jeff and Bryan, three grandchildren – Bryan “Bubba”, Jackie, and Michelle, sisters - Lupe Hoeft and Joyce Alcaida, and brother Rudy Burgoz. He moved from Parker to Phoenix in 1962 with Sadie, entered into the construction industry, and retired after 35 years as a cement mason/ finisher. Louie was a long time member of The Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and was active in the Cement Masons Union, Local 394. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid cook. Being one of his most proud accomplishments, Louie was a member of the International Chili Society, and competed in chili cook-offs throughout the country, including being a qualifier and participant in five World Chili Cook-Offs. He loved his family the most, and was thought of as the best Tata and Uncle. His subtle appreciation of the things he loved, a “say everything” smile from the things that brought him the most joy, and witty frank humor, will be deeply missed. |
