| Old Colony Memorial (Plymouth, Massachusetts) Friday, November 10, 2017 Thomas Winthrop Gillette, 82, of Middleboro died on Nov. 8, 2017, with his loving family at his side. He was the devoted husband of Maria (Castro) Gillette and the late Evelyn (Rodrick) Gillette. Born in Nashua, NH, on Sept. 26, 1935, he was the beloved son of the late Winthrop and Mary (Murphy) Gillette. He was educated in Brockton, and was a graduate of Brockton High School as well as Wentworth Institute of Technology. Thomas had worked for the Gillette Company as a draftsman for most of his life. He had proudly served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Capricornus, being honorably discharged in September, 1958. Mr. Gillette enjoyed golfing with his family and was an avid sports fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Besides leaving his wife Maria (Castro) Gillette, he was the loving father of Maureen Pelton and her husband William of East Bridgewater, Cathleen Guiliani and her husband Robert of Plymouth, and Patrick and his wife Christine Gillette of Westfield. He was the stepfather of Elsa Marquez and her husband Luis of Easton. He was predeceased by his son Brendan Gillette of Brockton. Thomas was the beloved brother of Geraldine Slowey of West Bridgewater, James Gillette of Concord, NH, Michael Gillette of Brockton, Kevin Gillette of Black Canyon City, AZ, Nancy Delaney of Niantic, CT, Claire Nash of Cleveland, TN, and Maryellen Stevens of North Fort Myers, FL. He also leaves 8 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. The visitation will take place on Sunday, Nov. 12, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Davis Funeral & Cremation Home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, South Meadow Rd., Plymouth, at 10:30. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Brendan K. Gillette Scholarship Fund, c/o Cardinal Spellman High School, 738 Court St., Brockton, MA 02302. |
