| Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, April 15, 1942, page 2, column 6 Van Voorhies Rites Set Here Today Graveside services for Albert H. Van Voorhies, aged 86 years, who died yesterday in a Phoenix hospital, will be held in the Odd Fellows cemetery tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mr. Van Van Voorhies was born January 17, 1856, at Ann Arbor, Mich. His parents were pioneer Dutch settlers of Ypslianti and Ann Arbor. He came to Arizona 20 years ago from Citronelle, Alabama. Before moving to Prescott, he operated a coffee store in connection with Weinick's Market in Phoenix. He was a farmer by occupation and took great pleasure in trying new varieties of plants at his home and at the Whipple Facility, where he had charge of the garden for some time. Mr. Van Voorhies was a life member of the local Loyal Order of the Moose and actively promoted its membership and activities. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Van Voorhies, who resides at 522 East Sheldon street. |
