A Celebration of Life Service for Richard Stites of Cottonwood will be held on May 31 at the Old Town Center for the Arts on 5th and Main in Cottonwood.
• 4-7 p.m. (Open House in Studio B)
• 7 p.m. - Celebration of Life Service
Richard made his journey home on Monday, May 4, 2009. His wife of 30 years, Ramona, was at his side.
Richard was born on January 29, 1951 in Framingham, Mass. He was a graduate of Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire.
A resident of the Verde Valley since 1978, Richard lived in Old Town and was active in the Old Town Association for the past several years. He served terms as President, Vice-president and Board Member. He was a Macintosh computer consultant in the Verde Valley since 1996. He was active in the Oak Creek Apples Macintosh users group for many years. He ran the Internet SIG. Richard was instrumental in the creation of Javadog Gallery in Old Town Cottonwood.
Richard's interests included motorcycles, flying small planes, and music. He also painted in oils.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Stites and his sister Pam Stites. He is survived by his wife, Ramona of Cottonwood, his father Frank Stites, two brothers, Tom Stites and Jack Stites, niece, Sarah Mann, nephew Jack Stites, and great-niece Stella Mann.
Richard excelled at everything he did. His talents were many; his focus, however, was never on himself, but always on others. Richard was well-known and well-loved throughout the Verde Valley and beyond
