Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, November 1, 1946, page 3, column 2 John Karnes Dies At Pioneer Home John J. Karnes, aged 79, died today at the Pioneer's Home where he had been a guest since December 24, 1940. He was born January 1, 1867, in San Patricio, Texas. He came to Arizona in 1889, locating at St. John where he engaged in stock raising. He is survived by two sons and two daughters: T. R. Karnes, Sawtell, Calif., Arthur Karnes, Carlsbad, Calif.; Mrs. Lois Hamm, Garden Grove, Calif. and Mrs. Katherine Canellas, Carlesbad, Calif. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Lester Ruffner Funeral Home. Transcriber's note: Mr. Karnes is buried at the Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona
