He also was a member of the Musicians Union. Survivors include his wife, Valeria; daughters, Charlene and Marguerite; sons, Chester R. Jr. and Fred; stepdaughters, Edith and Owetta; stepson, Pete; sister, Charlotte Cox; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
