| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, April 15, 2018, page 8a Ralph Frederick Gilkey, age 88, died at home in Portland, OR, on March 30, 2018. Born in Petersburg, OH, he served in the U.S. Navy before moving to Phoenix, AZ, where he and wife Ruth Gilkey raised a family in the Presbyterian faith. He worked over 33 years as a power dispatcher for the Salt River Project. In 1973 he married Julia Richey and moved with Julia and two step-daughters to Prescott, AZ. After retirement, he became an avid china painter and stained glass master. He was preceded in death by wife Julia, son William, and stepdaughter Cynthia Garver. He is survived by sister Dorothy Mathay of Phoenix, AZ, brother F. L. (Bud) Gilkey (Arlene) of Riverview, FL, daughters Deborah Revett (William) of Portland, OR and Martha Lisinski (John) of Sumter, SC, sons Brian Gilkey (Valarie) of Riverdale, Utah, and Dennis Gilkey (Sherry) of Mentor, Ohio, stepdaughter Melissa Lind of Seguin, Texas, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial will be held at 11 am, April 30th, at Greenwood Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ. Special thanks to the loving caregivers at Persis Adult Foster Care Home in Portland, OR. |
