Death Claims Ranch Woman
Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline O. Markham will be held Thursday
at 2 p.m. at the Ruffner Chapel. Interment will be in the Mountain
View Cemetery. Mrs. Markham died Saturday in a local hospital after
a long illness.
Mrs. Markham, one of the West's most picturesque ranch wives, had
lived in Arizona 42 years. She is the wife of John W. Markham of
the OO and 7 Ranches. She came to Seligman as a bride in 1914 and
lived on the ranch until her husband's retirement in 1932. He later
worked for the Santa Fe railroad and retires from that in 1955, but
still kept his interest in the ranches.
Survivors are her husband and two sisters, Mesdames Anna and Alice
Blackstone of San Pedro, Calif., and a brother, James C. Sevier of
Okmulgee, Okla.
Her body will lie in state from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Ruffner
chapel.
