| Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, September 25, 1956, page 1, column 2 Death Claims Ranch Woman Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline O. Markham will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Ruffner Chapel. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery. Mrs. Markham died Saturday in a local hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Markham, one of the West's most picturesque ranch wives, had lived in Arizona 42 years. She is the wife of John W. Markham of the OO and 7 Ranches. She came to Seligman as a bride in 1914 and lived on the ranch until her husband's retirement in 1932. He later worked for the Santa Fe railroad and retires from that in 1955, but still kept his interest in the ranches. Survivors are her husband and two sisters, Mesdames Anna and Alice Blackstone of San Pedro, Calif., and a brother, James C. Sevier of Okmulgee, Okla. Her body will lie in state from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Ruffner chapel. See Also: Arizona Gravestone Photo Project |
