The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, January 14, 1962, page 24, column 4 Pioneer Cattleman Succumbs Camp Verde - Ralph E. Monroe, Sr., a pioneer Yavapai County cattleman is dead. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m Tuesday in the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Clear Creek Cemetery, Mr. Monroe, who died Friday at his ranch here, was born in Dry Creek Sept. 17, 1894, the son of Elsworth W. and Nancy E. Monroe. Elsworth Monroe established the Monroe Ranch in 1905 and Ralph Monroe took over its operation in later years. Mr. Monroe was an Army veteran of World War 1 and a member of the Yavapai County Cattle Grower's Association. His wife, Maggie, a native of Pine, died in April 1960. Surviving are three sons, Ralph E., Jr. and Gail L., both of Camp Verde, and Basil P. Back, South Gate, Calif.; a brother, Elmer, Modesto, Calif.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Ruffner Funeral Home in Prescott from 6 to 9 tomorrow.
