Prescott Area Pioneer Dies

Prescott - Feb. 25 - Mrs. Sarah Catherine McKenzie, a resident of the
Prescott district since 1885, died today. She was 95 years old.

Her late husband, John M. McKenzie, operated a mine in the Bradshaw
Mountains.

She is survived by a son, George McKenzie, of Prescott.

Sarah McKenzie Pioneer, Aged 95, Taken by Death

Sarah Catherine McKenzie, aged 95, died this morning at the county
hospital, following a long illness.

She was born in Marietta, Ohio, September 11, 1851. She came west in
a covered wagon to Colorado and later to Prescott, arriving here in
1885. Her husband, the late John M. McKenzie, owned the Buster mine
in the Bradshaws and the family lived there for a time, moving to
Prescott in 1889. Mrs. McKenzie had lived here ever since. The
family home is at 603 South Granite street. She was a member of the
Baptist church.

A son, George McKenzie, employed by Frank A. Kuhne company here, is
the only survivor of seven children born to the couple. There are
several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great
grandchildren.

Children of Mr. and Mrs. George McKenzie include, Ralph McKenzie, of
Gardena, Calif.; Mrs. Art Long, of Inglewood, Calif.; Sgt. Donald
McKenzie, in service in Kamchatka, Alaska, (his wife and child live at
Monroe, Wash.); Mrs. Lloyd Murphy, W. E. Richard and Jimmy McKenzie,
all of Prescott.

Grandchildren of a former marriage are: Mrs. Jessie Reif, of Dillon,
Mont.; Ralph Roland, of Evergreen, La.; Clyde Roland, of Los Angeles.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Lester Ruffner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services Of Mrs. McKenzie Set For Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah McKenzie, aged 95, who died yesterday
at the county hospital, will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow
afternoon in the Lester Ruffner Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. Charles Franklin Parker will officiate at the services, which
will be follow by interment in Mountain View Cemetery.

Mrs. McKenzie, a native of Marietta, Ohio, had lived in this area
since 1885. The family home was at 603 South Granite Street.

She is survived by a son, George McKenzie, several grandchildren,
great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
