| Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Thursday, January 5, 1961, page 40, column 2 Dudley R. Powell Prescott - Funeral services for Dudley R. Powell, who died Tuesday in the Pioneers Home here, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Ruffner's Funeral Home. Dr. Charles Franklin Parker will officiate. Mr. Powell, long active in Arizona mining circles, for many years had been employed by the United Verde Extension Copper Co. in the Verde Valley. He was a member of the Clifton Elks Lodge. At one time, he was engaged in the real estate business in Phoenix. Mr. Powell, born in Eufaula, Ala., first came to Arizona in 1904 as a trooper with the U.S. Cavalry. He was stationed at nearby Fort Whipple when it was an army post. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Packer, Williams, and Mrs. Catherine Wade, Phoenix; a son, Preston, Lovell, Wyo.; and five grandchildren. Friends may call at Ruffner's Funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery. See Also: Arizona Gravestone Photo Project |
