| Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Wednesday, May 23, 2018, p. A-5 Machelle Mary Johnson-Truax Oct. 12, 1957 - May 15, 2018 Machelle Mary Johnson-Truax, 60, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in Wickenburg. Machelle and her identical twin sister were born on Oct. 12, 1957, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Henry Johnson and Eileen Garvin Johnson. She and husband Roger recently moved from Minnesota, where they were long-time residents. Both were charmed by the warmth of the desert (no more snow shoveling or mosquitos) and the small-town western cowboy way of life in Wickenburg. What Machelle love most in life were her husband Roger, her unique pets and the lovely antiques she collected. Roger and Machelle were married in 1996 in an intimate ceremony in the historic Old North Church in Boston. Roger was a long-time airline mechanic for northwest then Delta Airlines before his recent retirement. He and Machelle were inseparable, and he was the love of her life. One of Machelle's defining characteristics was her immense love for her pets. They were her children and gave her life purpose and joy. As her beloved miniature bull terrier, Essex was dying of cancer, she cooked him special meals and fed him by hand. Her favorite breed of cat was a hairless sphinx, and she would laugh when petting his odd wrinkled head. During her 20s, Machelle spent several years living abroad in Braintree, England. It was during this time that she discovered her lifelong passion for collecting antiques. Her homes were always immaculate and elegantly appointed. Decorated with intriguing treasures she and Roger found at estate and garage sales. Machelle was a warm and gentle soul who will be greatly missed by her husband, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Eileen Johnson, and her older brother Garvin. She is survived by her husband Roger; siblings Terrence and Larry Johnson and her identical twin Marsha Johnson-Downey. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 23, at 2 p.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home. Friends may offer condolences at www.wickenburgfuneralhome.com. Arrangements under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home and Crematory. |
