Death of Owen Stull

A Well Known Yavapai Miner Accidentally Killed

The assayer at the Senator mine arrived in town today about noon,
bringing the sad intelligence that Owen Stull, a miner working on that
property, had been found dead in one of the drifts.

While but meager particulars are given by our informant, it would seem
that Mr. Stull was working in one of the stopes in that mine, and
evidently had lost his footing and fell a distance of nearly fifty
feet into a drift below. He was badly bruised about the head and
otherwise injured. At the point he was working most of his tools
still remained, the candle stick being in place, but a drill was found
beside him.

Mr. Stull is said to have been subject to fainting or dizzy spells,
and probably it was while experiencing an attack of this nature that
he lost his balance.

The deceased was a well-known miner of this section, and in his death
much sorrow is felt. He leaves a wife and one child.

Judge Moore went out this afternoon to hold an inquest, and upon his
return definite particulars will be given.

The late Owen W. Stull was laid to rest yesterday, a large cortege
following the remains to the cemetery. A beautiful floral emblem made
of white immortelles, forming the letters A. O. U. W., of which order
the deceased was a member, together with and evergreen anchor, and
other floral contributions were noticeable. The funeral rite were
conducted under the auspices of the A. O. U. W.

The remains of the late Owen Stull were brought in form the Senator
this morning by his brother, John Stull.

Further particulars of his his sad death show it to have been purely
accidental and the coroner's jury presided over by Judge Moore
returned a verdict accordingly.

the stope he was working in was the 110, in soft and muddy ground, and
his feet slipping fell down a winze sixty feet deep. His back and
neck were broken and when picked up by hi companion named Jones,
gasped but twice.

The deceased was an exemplary citizen and will be buried Sunday by the
A.O.U.W.
