Sudden Death Of Mrs. Holbrook
Supposed She Was Well And Discharged Her Nurse
Typhoid Fever and Erysipelas Cause Her Demise
Mrs. Frances Holbrook, died last evening about 11 o'clock at her home
on South Cortez street, in this city after a brief illness. The
deceased was aged about 30 years, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Thorbeck of Jerome.
Besides her parents, who are old-time residents of this city, she
leaves surviving her a daughter aged about 10 years, two brothers who
are residents of Jerome, and one sister now residing in California.
Her death was entirely unexpected, as she was thought to have fully
recovered several days ago from an attack of typhoid fever, which was
attended by complication of erysipelas, when she discharged her nurse,
believing that she was entirely well.
Yesterday afternoon she was attacked by heart trouble, and a
consolation of physicians was called. Her case was diagnosed as
inflammation of the heart, due to erysipelas pronounced to be serious.
Every effort was made on the part of avail, her death occurring at the
hour stated.
She was a member of Fraternal Brotherhood lodge No. 258 of this city,
to the upbuilding of which she devoted much time, and to the
principles of which she was much attached.
Charitable almost to a fault, and ever ready to assist the needy and
distressed, the community loses in her death a noble and industrious
woman, who by her own efforts and labors, enabled, built a house for
herself and little one, who has the sincere of the community at the
untimely end of a found and indulgent mother.
The remains were taken in charge by the undertaking parlors of F. F.
Nevin on Cortez street.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Transcriber's note: Mrs. Holbrook is buried at the Citizens Cemetery
in Prescott, Arizona.
