Death Claims State Pioneer
Prescott, May 30 - Mrs. Lucy Whipple, 83 years old, a pioneer of
Arizona and the West, who crossed the plains in a covered wagon in
frontier days, died this morning at a local hospital.
Mrs. Whipple, a native of Kentucky came to Utah with her parents when
a young girl. Her first husband, George Kincade (sic Charles
Kincaid), who she married in Minersville, Utah, was killed by Indians
there shortly after the birth of her first son.
Later she married William Supers and lied for some time at Pioche,
Nev., before moving to this county in 1880 and settling in a ranch in
the Upper Verde district. In 1890, she moved to the Thumb Butte
district.
Surviving are four sons, George Kincade, and Charles and William
Supers (sic Subers) of Prescott, and John Supers (sic Subers) of
Phoenix, and three daughters, Lucy, Margaret and Nellie Supers.

Final Tribute Paid Pioneer
Prescott, June 2 - Funeral services were held this afternoon from the
Ruffner Funeral Home for Mrs. Lucy Kincade, Supers (sic Subers0,
Whipple, 83 year old Arizona pioneer, who died at a local hospital
Thursday. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Whipple, a native of Kentucky, came across the plains in a
covered wagon with her parents when she was a child, the family
settling in Minersville, Utah. She was married there, her husband
being killed by Indians shortly after the birth of their son.
Later she remarried and moved to Yavapai county in 1880, settling in
the Upper Verde district and later, in 1890, removing to the Thumb
Butte area, near Prescott, where Mrs. Whipple remained for more than
half a century.
She is survived by four sons, George Kincaid, Charles A. Supers (sic
Subers) and William Supers (sic Subers) of Prescott and John Supers
(sic Subers) of Phoenix, and three daughters, Lucy, Margaret and
Nellie Supers (sic Subers) of this city.
