| The Arizona Republican, Phoenix, Arizona Saturday, December 14, 1918, page 6, column 4 School Friends To Act At Girl's Funeral High school friends will act as pallbearers at the funeral of Miss Mary Wetzler to be held at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Death of the popular girl came as a shock to her relatives and friends with whom she was a great favorite. Miss Wetzler, who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Wetzler of Buckeye, came to Phoenix in early autumn to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. John G. Montgomery that she might have the school advantages offered here. She was a senior in the high school and, being ambitious to finish her course in the spring, was taking nine subjects to accomplish this purpose. She was unusually clever and her happy nature made her popular with the student body. A fortnight ago she suffered an attack of influenza, pneumonia developing. She was ill eight days when she passed away. The funeral services will be held in the chapel of Moore and McLellan, Reverend J. A. Wailes of the Methodist church will officiate at the chapel and also at Greenwood where burial will take place. |
