Mary F. (McClure) Baker

Mary F. Baker, age 93, January 13, 1923. Passed away February 3, 2016, in Phoenix, AZ.

She taught a variety of subjects in several schools in Wabash County before moving to Ohio where she taught in the Evergreen School System. Mary specialized in teaching remedial reading, helping children with behavioral problems and learning disabilities. Mary graduated from Wabash High School, and Manchester College where she received a degree in Education. She later received a Master's Degree from St. Francis University in Ft. Wayne, IN. Mary moved to Toledo Ohio where she and Nathan were enrolled in the Ph.D. program at the University of Toledo. Married Nathan D. Baker on February 5, 1944. He died April 24, 1989.

Survived by sons, Jeff E. (Linda) Baker, Whitehouse, OH Gregg P. Baker, Wickenburg, AZ; daughter, Susan M. Baker, Wickenburg, AZ; step-granddaughter, April Toupin, Phoenix, AZ; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service Sunday October 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 N. Beckley St. North Manchester, IN. Pastor J. P. Freeman officiant. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN. Memorials can be sent to Wabash County Historical Museum, 36 E. Market St. Wabash, IN 46992
