Paul Plummer dies at 69; 1st auditor of tax agency
Paul Ashton Plummer, who was the first field auditor for the Arizona
Tax Commission, died Thursday in Good Samaritan Hospital.
Born in Los Angeles, Mr. Plummer, 69, of 2010 W. Holly, was brought to
Prescott as a year-old infant. He attended the University of Arizona
and was graduated from Northern Arizona Normal School (now Northern
Arizona University) in 1926. He was an elementary school teacher in
Holbrook and Phoenix.
Mr. Plummer, who also was employed for 26 years by the State Industrial
Commission, later renamed the State Compensation fund, maintained his
hobby of painting. More than 1,000 of his oil paintings featuring
Arizona scenes have been sent to servicemen throughout the world.
Private services will be today in the chapel of A. L. Moore and Sons
Mortuary, 333 W. Adams, with cremation to follow.
Survivors include his wife Opal F.; one daughter, Mrs. Connie Shelton
of Phoenix; one son, Paul E., of Tempe; one brother, Herman Brinkmeyer
of Las Vegas, and two grandchildren.
