Phyllis Gay McCormack passed away at the age of 75 on September 28,
2018 surrounded by her family in her home in Lake Havasu City,
Arizona.

Phyllis, or as she was affectionately known to her family as Gay Gay,
Gigi, Shorty or Grandma Gay, was born on October 17, 1942 in Murray,
Kentucky to William and Marie (Turner) Workman. The family moved to
Santa Monica, California where Phyllis attended school. Upon
graduation from high school, Phyllis married Arthur Hoover Jr. Phyllis
and Arthur had two sons, Arthur Neal and Arthur Darryl and raised them
in southern California. While living in California, she loved to
garden and had a fondness for growing heirloom tomatoes and frequently
made Fried Green Tomatoes. Phyllis had a passion for ethnic food with
a particular love for sushi.

In 1978, Phyllis relocated to Arizona with her children and on January
2, 1982 married Wayne McCormack of Lake Havasu City. Phyllis worked as
an Emergency 911 dispatcher for the city of Lake Havasu, supporting
police and fire activity for 25 years, retiring in 2004. In
retirement, she enjoyed traveling the West Coast in their fifth wheel
and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
While gardening activities were quite limited in the Arizona desert,
she did enjoy limited gardening via container gardening. She also
became fond of feeding the hummingbirds which are year round residents
of the desert. But perhaps her favorite pastime was watching Fox News,
whose logo is now permanently etched into their plasma television
screen.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 36 years, Wayne McCormack, sons
Neal of Phoenix and Darryl and his husband Joel of Parker, Colorado,
stepsons Pat McCormack and his wife Vicki and Terry McCormack and his
wife Sandy, both of Lake Havasu City and stepdaughter Peggy Ewald and
her husband John of Reno, Nevada along with eight grandchildren, eight
great grandchildren, six brothers and sisters and her four legged
furry companions, Dolly and Shadow.
